Malaysia - Melaka

Kuala Lumpur to Singapore is quite a long bus journey which is absolutely doable and many people take this journey every day. However, along the way is the beautiful town of Melaka. To break up our journey down south a little, we decided to take a short stop there and take a look to see what's around. I'm so glad that we did.

Melaka is really stunning and provides some nice Malaysian culture to have a look around and explore. It's less touristy that some of the other locations in Malaysia, however if you're dying for some 'pub grub' then there is a Hard Rock Cafe at a great expense in the middle of the town. If you're like me and LOVE to sample the local food (always cheap, always amazing), then there is a wonderful Indian restaurant called Pak Putra. Apparently they do the best ever tandoori chicken there, not that I'd know as I don't eat meat, but if you do then happy days.

The river here is quite beautiful and is known for something that brings in the tourists to the town. You can get onto a little boat for a trip down the river for about 40 minutes which was really nice. It was wonderful to just be able to see all the local houses and restaurants from the boat, and also try and spot the huge monitor lizards swimming around in the water. I think I counted 5 which I was quite impressed with! They also gave us free biscuits and a bottle of water each for the trip which was really sweet. The trip cost around £4 so all in all it was a really cracking price.

Personally I think that you only really need a day here as there isn't tonnes to do, but just walking round and exploring the town for the day is really lovely. It's also a nice little stop to break up the huge city of Kuala Lumpur before heading to the huge city of Singapore.
